oil change
I've only put maybe 200 miles on my 2003 Z06 this year I use royal purple synthetic oil and a k&n filter, does it need to be changed before I put it away for the winter ? Last change was last November.

Spoke to Evil Twin on this very subject a few years ago. He helped develop the OLM algorithm from what I recall. He told me there are definite reasons for the annual change so I do mine every year, sometimes with only a few hundred miles on it. You can do as you wish, I will follow what the GM Engineer who developed the OLM gives me for guidance.

Depends on if you store the car out in the elements or in a garage. Believe me, the GM engineer wanted to cover GM's butt and he don't buy your oil for you!
I have owned everything from bulldozers to minibikes and have had oil analysis done a lot. My experience tells me if a vehicle is stored in the elements, even under a cover, the oil will need to be changed. If it's stored inside it probably doesn't
However, it's your choice. If it bothers you do it if it doesn't don't.
Good luck!

Drifting
Quality synthetic oil and a filter is cheap. I no longer drive past 5,000 miles a year (3,000 miles is WAY too early on modern synthetics to be changing it; you're throwing away money) so it gets changed yearly, however I don't put away for the winter so mine gets driven year round.
I would change it.

wow that's a tough one ...expensive oil with no miles on it.....you cant go wrong with changing it but if it were my car I probably wouldn't. if you do change it and that's all the miles you drive annually just use Mobil 1

As posted above, if the car is stored in a clean dry garage then the oil won't degrade by sitting. I store my cars in a clean dry garage and only change the oil when they've gone enough miles it needs changed, no matter the length of time. My C5 only has about 160,000 miles on it and still runs almost like new. Your oil is like new and has a lot of life still in it. No need to throw away that good oil.
The oil won't have enough contaminates in it to be able to do any damage to the engine like what is often claimed. If there were enough contaminates in the oil to cause engine damage within the first 200 miles of driving, then the contaminates would be so concentrated by 5000 miles and 1 year that they'd be doing visible destruction to the engine each day the oil remained in the crankcase. Ever heard of an engine being badly corroded on the inside by the contaminates in the oil before?

My opinion......you are wasting your money, time, and oil with that low mileage between changes. Blackstone Labs will test your oil the next time you change it. You may be surprised that in 2 or 3 years and 1,500 miles your oil is still working fine.
