this is my second post on this problem. my blower motor is not working normally i.e. noise and slower than normal speeds, and i suspect rodent nest or nests to be the problem. can anyone advise me on the best course of action to repair the problem. thanks in advance, mike.
I'd pull the blower motor, vacuum out the nest, put a test light across the hot side of the wire going to the motor and adjust the fan speed. The light should get brighter, the fast the fan turns. If it works properly, replace the blower motor. Pretty easy job.
Is it actually turning slower, or are you getting less air flow than anticipated? Are you sure the vacuum actuators are switching from air out everywhere to air out a directed path, such as dash or defroster? If you've lost vacuum source the actuators won't. Happened to me and about 10,000 others. Set for dash and then see if you are getting air at floor and defroster.
You can EASILY remove the blower motor assy from the bottom of the passengers foot well side of the air box.. Three screws, one rubber air vent hose and one connector. If the motor bushings are noisy, you and easily add oil to them thru the small hole where the rubber air vent connects.
If there's a nest, Just do what Robrote suggested. YES, if the vacuum supply source for the HVAC Air solenoid dampers is compromised, you will have blower air blowing out of multiple vents and it will seem like there is no air or less air flow.. .
