99 vs 2000 exhaust

99 vs 2000 exhaust
Ok is it me or is my 99's stock exhaust louder than my 2000 was? The 99 has chrome ext tips on....I hear they may make a lil diff but I cant imagine much........also I have heard in the past that the cross over tube diameter inside is larger in the 99 than the 2000 while the same size outside the tube.......and if this was the case wouldnt that make the 99 quieter mimic-ing the effect of an x pipe???

they changed the exhaust in 2000 to allow pre-cats to be installed on some cars. The systems look the same (in 2-cat versions), but the manifold-to-pipe junction is slightly relocated. I don't know why it would sound different, but it is possible. Don't know of any muffler changes in those years.
