Sorry, my words... I know the headers are Chinese. Just betting the rest is local.

Ah, gotcha. Would definitely be nice if these things were completely made local and more consistent...

And then they would cost double no doubt. I got mine at $499 IIRC. Good deal that would have been better if they had fitted properly. Still, 4+ years later no leaks thankfully.

I installed them on my 2001 6 spd last year, everything fit and went in from the top. I had to disconnect the starter and remove it, then reinstall it before tightening up the header bolts, also had to disconnect the front of the steering shaft. Overall I reallly like the headers from TS and they add a nice sound, not too loud until you get on it ( I have cats) and also add a really nice boost in hp and tq, you can feel it.

I took my headers and x pipe to the local machine shop and had all the flanges flattened just to make sure there were no leaks after all that work installing.

Rubbing the steering shaft?

This is a minor concern of mine. I think I have ample clearance, but if it does ever rub even the slightest, I'll dimple it when I do my heads and cam in a couple months.

Yes it rubs in just one spot on the steering shaft when turning the wheel, I don't notice it making any noise. After installing these headers I don't see how anyone can even make these long tube headers fit, everything is so tight. Over all I'm really satisfied. I think they did a good job considering.

Kooks/StainlessWorks/ARH/LG Motorsports can...all in the design, engineering and quality control.

If you buy cheaper headers, just plan to have potential fitment issues that's all. And if you do, you won't feel bad about hitting them with a hammer to make clearance because you only paid $400 for them.

I would take that header out and dent it for the steering shaft... you don't hear any more noise because it clearanced itself against the steering column lol.

I put Speed Engineering LTs and uncatted X pipe on mine over the summer. I can't talk to longevity, but the fit of the headers was A+. I did have the X pipe welded up by a shop. Highly recommend.

Thanks all for the feedback! I've decided that, if I'm going to put LTs on my car (which I am), I'm going to go with either Kooks, LGs or ARH... Leaning heavily toward Kooks with some of the Black Friday sales going on.

I think this is going to be a wise decision. With my past experiences I would give the nod to the Kooks.

After a 150 miles I can say that I don't regret these headers but they are not perfect. They do work however and I have no leaks anywhere. I can't vouch for power gains at this time. Will be months and much heavier mods before dyno tuning.

My three biggest complaints,

One tube on the right hand header hangs down lower than anything else. Already smacked it on speed bumps twice. No real damage (just scratches) and this is not the first car I've ever owned with speed bump header contact problems.

The steering shaft does in fact rub every once in a while on one of the primary tubes. I've never felt it in the car, not once. I'll dimple the tube when the crappy 806 heads come off.

Last but not least and of course I knew this going in........SLIP FIT collectors kinda suck. No leaks at this time but I always pack slip fits with high temp RTV. I have no doubts they would have leaked without it.

Overall I am happy with the installation and for 540 bucks if they last I'll be OK with the purchase.

Mr. Black, assuming you have TSP headers? You started talking about Kooks, no other mention of brand... title is TSP. One side of mine hang lower also if so.

Thanks for the additional feedback, buddy! Sounds like the TSPs work just fine but that one side hanging lower than the other would drive me nuts... I'm a pretty meticulous person so fit and finish is super important to me. Regardless, the fact that they fit, don't leak and will likely add roughly the same amount of power as any other LTs for just $540 is amazing!

Here's the weird part Danny, the collectors in the tunnel are level. I think I posted a picture of that earlier in your thread. Its just one primary tube on the right side that hangs down like a half inch lower than the left side.

Christmas came early... Went with the Kooks 1 7/8" Race Headers with a 3" X 2.5" off road X-pipe. Sounds odd to describe an exhaust system this way but these things are gorgeous! Almost pains me to put them on the car and damage them! Very happy with my purchase thus far.
