2003 wont start in cold weather
Hello, When I insert the key everything appears normal. The seat adjusts the steering wheel adjusts. The dome lights are on. The dash panel comes on with the security light on. However, as soon as I turn the key to start, the car shuts down. No crank, No lights, nothing, totally dead. The battery is fully charged. It seems to do this in cold weather, below 40. Also a couple of times I got a message to pull key and wait 10 seconds but it doesn't always give that message. Once it did start after 10 seconds but the other time it did not. This only happens when the weather is cold. Any ideas as to why it would do this? Thanks for your consideration. tdag.

You mention that the security light is on, so when you go to start your car and turn the key to the on position, the gauges should sweep indicators lights come on then all indicators should go off leaving only the check engine light and seat belt indicator if you have not buckled in. The security light should not remain on, if it remains on that means that the key pellet is not being read, try a second key if you have one, if not wipe your key pellet with contact cleaner and spray some into the ignition switch, cannot explain why cold weather would cause you problem.
