Default Dash lens removal

Hello all,

1997 Corvette 6 speed 42000 miles. I noticed today when I pulled in my driveway that the silver trim ring that surrounds the temperature gauge has fallen off. It is restricting the movement of the needle. Is there a quick way to remove the dash just so I can get the instrument panel off to fix this ring? See attached picture. Will this ring damage the needle since it cannot close all the way.

Thanks for the help,

Kevin

It seems your car has the Vette Essentials aluminum gauge bezels, or similar, installed. You would need to follow their installation tutorial to repair it. Basically you'll need to remove the IPC. I would do it before the gauge gets damaged

I installed red LED's in my Cluster a couple of months ago and took a lot of pictures and made a thread in my Norwegian Corvette forum .
If you click on this link you will see photoes of all steps and how I removed my cluster .
I lowwered the steering column as shown on the photoes )
Hope this will give you some help on how to remove the cluster .

Hello all,
It is a somewhat dry day in NE Pa. so I tackled this bezel project. Thank you GCG for the archived instructions from Corvette Essentials. The instrument panel removal was a breeze and took me 75 minutes. I do have one question though. The attached picture shows what looks like a gasket ring around the key cover. I assume it is a seal of some sort but cant easily figure out how it goes back. It was just hanging there as I took the dash console out. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone suggest changing the dash lights while I am here. Has anyone had any satisfaction with the LED lights? I want to stay stock bright..not any colors.
Thanks for any suggestions,

Kevin

Default because nothing goes right for me..

When I took apart my lens another bezel fell off. I checked and all were loose and ready to come off. When placing the bezel on the tac side it slipped out of my hand and the glue got on the face as seen in the pics. I am beyond pissed off. Can this face cover be replaced? Does anyone know a good source to get it? Any responses will be appreciated

I did the same kind of screw up myself on my first attempt to glue my rings on to the cluster . I had to by a second cluster to a new gauge .
The second time I used Loctite Gel glue instead if liquid loctite glue to avoid spill off liquid on the cluster .
Berfore I glued my rings on for the second time I separate the front part of the cluster as shown on this photo .
Worked very well and I done this job on second cluster with no problem

I used the Loctite gel glue as well. After the incident i looked closer and saw that I could have removed the piece away from the gauges as you did. Live and learn.

You have to split the cluster from rear and you see the 4 screw holding each gauge
