My 2001 Vette Convertible has been in the local Chevy dealer garage for 7 weeks. Had 2 new rear tires installed. The L/H rear tire monitor had quit working a few days before this was done and the service manager said it was probably the battery in wheel sensor had gone dead and he would change it out. Now after all these weeks the dash monitor is showing 3 issues; service tire monitoring system and 2 other items (I can't remember what they were). My door remotes quit working and service manager can't re-set them. He's now in the process of tearing out my dash so he can get to some type electrical component that he says he can't communicate with. Any ideas of what the problem is? I'm lost for what to do. Wish I would have taken it to Bud's in Ohio
You need to get a detailed description (in writing) of what they are doing and why. Sounds like they are getting ready to take you to the cleaners. I can't think of any reason they would need to go into the dash. Seven weeks is an absurd amount of time for something like this. Pick up the car today.

I'm not the greatest at trouble shooting electrical issues, and I would HOPE that a Chevy dealer would be, but you never know. Having said that, here's my $0.02 worth. You're getting the "service tire monitoring system" because they replaced the TPMS sensors, hopefully did the "relearn" process, but haven't driven the car the required couple of miles, in order to "awaken" them. The key fobs not being recognized may be due to their internal batteries dying. The car is, 17 years old, and if the batteries haven't been changed out yet, they certainly should be. Secondly, along with that, as we all have learned over time, if a C-5 either isn't driven regularly, or has a batter tender on it, the car's battery will lose it's charge, and that causes ALL SORTS of issues. The dealer has had your car for 7 weeks, and they most likely let the car sit, therefore the battery has lost charge.
As I said, just my $0.02 worth, gained from 17 years of C-5 ownership.....
The service manager tries a couple times a week to figure out what's going wrong. First bill for mounting tires and replacing the left rear tire sensor was $144.00. After having car for a few days and the tire pressure system still not working (and now on all 4 wheels) {Monitor shows XXX's} I took it back. They had it for another 2 weeks and still couldn't fix it so I used the car for a trip and took it back again. The next bill was for $81.00. They changed the front left sensor. After still not fixed, I took it back again and they've had it 7 weeks and counting. He said the BCM wasn't communicating with the dash monitor so now he's taking dash apart? I'm in Florida for the winter so hopefully they'll call soon and say they found problem.. He said the remotes not working was tied into the same issue as the other problems. New batteries in both remotes. A few months before the tire replacements I had it in for the remotes not working. That cost me $240.00.
What is the status of the remote control door lock receiver ? It communicates with TMPS and key fobs. Are the TMPS genuine GM? After market TMPS are known to be difficult to program to vehicle.

Actually its worth more than $0.02 worth, its worth about 500 dollars paid to the stealership. I agree with this statement.
