Default How do you exercise the EBCM with a tech2?

Just purchased a clone tech 2 that's coming in the mail, does anyone know the procedure for exercising the brake module? I have EBCM code C1243. Thanks!

Are you saying not to use the tech 2 or that you don’t use the tech 2?

I bought the clone Tech 2 just for flushing the EBCM, (thinking one of the failures was due to contaminates) !!!!

Do you have to bleed the breaks in order to exercise the pumps or can you just exercise them?

Came back after I let the battery charge, code is coming right back. Ran the ABS test 5 more times and the BPMV motor stalled every time. Anyone know what specific test in the tech 2 I should do? I am replacing my rotors and pads in a couple of weeks, and I am going to bleed the brakes then. I saw there was a test where you have to have the rear wheels off the ground, is that the one I should be doing? Thanks everyone for the replies.

Pounder,

I looked at your thread linked above. When I did mine, I had to do the manual bleed at each corner the first time. But I'm figuring it must sense if there's air at each corner because in subsequent auto-bleed procedures, it skipped the part about opening bleeders.

To All. I found that running this test on any vehicle was best if you connect the battery charger while you're doing it. It must take a boatload of power to do that. I've had 2 vehicles run out of juice this way.

Another note. When it says hold the pedal, and the pump attempts to push it back at you. You have to REALLY hold that down so it can't overcome your foot. That's what gets the air out of the system and exchanges the fluid (or so I surmise).

Another note. I've been told that an alternative to the TechII (though not near as effective) is to take the vehicle to a slippery place and engage the ABS real good a few times. I tried it in my pickup in the wet grass in my orchard. Didn't work as well as I'd expected, but it did help slightly. I later bought a TechII and that was the end of that problem.

Hi everyone! So I cleared the codes with the engine running, and as soon as I take my foot off the brake pedal the codes come back instantly, whether the car is moving or not. Does anyone have any ideas? I have some data from the tech 2. I can clear the codes with the car off and run the pump with the tech 2 (stalls every time).

Here is the tech 2:
