I'm on my project buying spree right now and need pointers on the pushrods to get. I think the spec I want is hardened chromoly pushrods of 7.400" with 5/16" OD. It's for a mild JEGS cam 0.585/0.585 (PN 200582), with dual valves springs on stock 853 heads, and rockers will be stock with just the trunnion upgrade. Just need to confirm that 5/16" OD is what I need and what sellers are reputable for holding tight tolerances. Options range between 5/16", 11/32", and 3/8". Many thanks!!!
PS: Forum managers, please move my thread to 'C5 Tech'. I just noticed I posted in C5 General

Just run a Hardened 5/15 pushrod. No need to go exotic on the pushrods when doing a basic cam setup that isnt going to turn high rpms. We run BTR or TSP pushrods. We can give you a great deal on BTR 7.400 hardened 5/16 pushrods if you are ready. Just pm,email, or call and we can get you some in the mail.

Thanks, I would've taken the deal but I went ahead and actually bought the BTR's 7.400 5/16" before I saw your post.
I would have increased the OD to 11/32" minimum. Stiffness is the name of the game with pushrods to minimize flexing, and 5/16" provides no increase over stock. Neither does a hardened pushrod, hardening won't increase the stiffness. The only way to get an increase in pushrod stiffness is by increasing the OD. Two factors that should be considered, one is the cam but the second is you have bumped up the spring stiffness and spring forces.
