Default Question regarding engine rebuild

So since I lost a roller tip off one of my lifters I'm going to pull my engine and get it rebuilt. I was going to sell my KB supercharger and put a ls2 or ls3 in my car but decided to just rebuild my ls1 and keep the supercharger. So if I just rebuild my engine but put forged internals, maybe not the crank, depends on if it got damaged at all. Might try to find some better heads but maybe just get my stock ones worked over, can't remember what they are but I know the number is 800 something,so basically stock heads. So my question is if I don't change the compression to much and only get my heads worked over a little, will it be ok to drive it to the guy that will tune it or should I trailer it down to him. I'd also go with the same size cam that's in it,I'm sure my cam is damaged. I was making 600+ rwhp.

you should be fine as long as you aren't changing injectors or anything like that and assuming the car runs good enough to drive, just stay out of boost obviously

I would be sure NOT to raise the compression ratio if you get new heads or re work your old ones---

"853 was used on 99-00 LS1 engines. 241 was used on 01-04 LS1 engines. They both have a 66.67 cc combustion chamber (10.1 CR), 200cc intake runners, and 70cc (round) exhaust ports."

600+ rwhp is amazing, I would continue with those stock heads unless there is damage, by the way my 1999 has the same heads and is completely stock, I'm guessing 300 rwhp probably, never had it on a dyno.

I have a Kenne Bell supercharger a pretty big cam, methanol injection 17/8" headers so my engine wasn't stock

I knew you had a supercharger, was just saying impressive numbers with the 853 heads, which some say are not very good.

I would go for an ls3

Overall power is higher.

Ls3 heads are way better. They are not sand cast so the over all look and function is better. They almost look like a ported head the runners and everywhere for that matter are smoother. They have a titanium hollow stem valve which is totally hp and the swirl of the inner chamber is better for better fuel and air mixture. They are considered better than the ls7 head. I have all the numbers and stats written down if you need the info. Gl

if he goes with ls3 style heads he would have to change his blower... not worth it in my opinion for the power he is making, the ls1 is plenty capable

Neutrons, thanks for all the info you're giving. I'd like to get more rwhp but from what I hear I'm already maxing out the KB supercharger. I'd like more power but I'm just not wanting to dump a lot of money into a 20 yr old car, hopefully in the next year or two I'll be getting a Zr1.
