I had the same problem and used WD40 to lubricate the mating surfaces whilst leaving the clamps loose.
Then you use patience and brute force to ease the unit in place. In my case, I used more force than patience and repeated the process several times.
Maybe its the scientist in me but I noticed no SOTP difference and remain convinced that I could take their stock car away for an hour, tell 100 people I'd installed a Blackwing in it, and many would tell me their SOTP meters registered a noticeable improvement.
