Car won't start; but before I take her to my mechanic, I thought that I would ask around, here, on CF for opinions.
On November 1st, I parked the car in a covered garage in order to store her for the winter. Brought the battery home with me that day and charged the battery a few weeks later; here, at home. That was approximately the last week of November.
A month later, over the holidays, I went to start the car, no luck. WTF! It had not been that long since the battery was fully charged. Whatever. I jumped the Vette two times with my Lexus that day. Started each time; no problem. In fact, I drove the car around the neighbourhood for 10 minutes; no problem.
I was concerned about the battery; so I brought the battery home with me that day a week ago and charged the battery fully this morning ( only took 1.5 hours to charge ) and returned this afternoon to start the Vette again. No luck. Battery can't be dysfunctional or it would not have fully charged so rapidly.
I disconnected the Vette battery, then tried to start the Vette using my Lexus battery situated on the floor and hooked up to the Vette battery cables using jumper cables. No luck.
I am not sure where to start looking in order to pinpoint the problem. I figure that it can't be the starter, or the car would not have started when boosted. I figure it is a fuse. Could the alternator be failing? I figure that there is some sort of protocol consisting of things to check in a systematic order when your car won't start.
Years ago when my Toyota Celica did not start, problem turned out to be the EFI fuse.
Without at least using a dmm you really can't be sure of the condition of the battery. Most auto parts stores will check it without charge. If the battery tests good I suggest you take it to your mechanic. It is not a fuse.
Will the Lexus start with the Lexus battery on the floor? I'm guessing it's your battery. And a full charge from it sitting dead for a month can't be done that quickly.
Take it in for testing and or a proper charge.
