Throttle body air barb rotation
I replaced my TB (long story) with another TB of the same type. Here's the one I took out of the car. Please note the orientation of the, uh, what is that - the clean air return barb? It looks like it's at, I dunno, 110 degrees from vertical, give or take.
Here's the one I put into my car. Please note how it's rotated all the way around to something like 225 degrees past vertical (or negative 135 degrees or so).
Now, this is a potential issue because, as you can see, it causes a bit of a kink in the air hose.
I have a positive displacement supercharger on the car - Magnuson MP112 - so the hose can't just flop straight back, or it will abrade against the rolling belt of the supercharger. It needs to point forward, so it's routed around the power steering reservoir and bracket.
So, I'm wondering, how was the barb on the TB I had before rotated? Do you just tap it with a hammer? I tried pulling and twisting, tried leveraging a bit, it didn't move and I didn't want to break it. Does it in fact turn, and I just need to hit it harder? Or is there a trick to it that I'm missing?
Also, what's the precise name of this air barb and hose? I originally thought it was a vacuum hose, but rather, from my research, it appears that it's part of the PCV system, providing a clean air return to the valve covers / crankcase?
Thanks y'all
I've never done this before, but I'd heat up the aluminum around the barb with a torch before trying to turn it. Might want to remove the TPS first, just to be safe. I think either a wrench, pliers, or maybe the right diameter punch would do the job.
Good luck!
Alright, I'll see about trying to turn it. Thanks folks.
I'm looking at the MP112 installation instructions:
https://www.carid.com/images/magnach...structions.pdf
Step 66 shows the TB air barb in the "original" position.
Step 109 shows that the TB air barb is turned.
There are no steps in between instructing to turn it.
Sigh.
I guess I'll start by putting a bit of leverage on it and giving it some love taps with a dead-blow hammer, failing that, perhaps heat is the way to go.
Thanks folks. Will try to close the loop on this one when I get it resolved.

Step 68, original position
Step 113/115, new position
Nothing in between
Anyways - off to figure it out. Thanks again
