Default AC Auto Mode malfunction?

Hi,

I have 04Z06 and bought it a couple of months ago. I noticed that the Auto mode starts blowing air right after the engine starts thus air is very cold when I want warm/hot air blowing in. Other cars with Auto mode usually wait until the engine warms up. Is this normal? Or something is malfunctioning? If the latter, what would be the fix?
Thanks for your help!

Your memory setting is likely set to have the A/C come on when you start the car or you have the system in AUTO mode.

With the car running set your seat & telescopic wheel setting where you want it and turn the HVAC system completely off (turn everything off; no A/C, defrost, etc). On the panel on the driver's door card hold down #1 until it flashes. Then hold down #2 until it flashes. The next time you insert your key into the ignition (since you set both memory setting 1 and 2) the HVAC system should not start up. If you have AUTO mode on you need to also press AUTO to turn it off.

Thanks for your reply. So unless you have "Auto" or the AC turned off, the fan starts blowing the air even before the systems warms up to blow warm air? Do you usually push "Auto" when the AC system warms up?
Other cars I owned don't blow any air until the system is ready (warmed up) to blow warm air when in "auto" mode.

I never actually use the AUTO feature. The way I have my car set up is I have all my HVAC setting set to #2 memory, so when I start my car with my #1 key it defaults to #1, but then when I'm going down the road and the car warmed up I then hit #2. That sets everything exact to where I like it (a lot of people complain about the dual climate setup on C5s but it actually works VERY well when it works right).

My 99 does this also. I like to keep my system in AUTO 90% of the time. Lately I've been turning AUTO off in the cold mornings and choosing the bi level mode manually. That seems to delay the fan or at least have a lower fan speed upon cold start. My 2000 Jaguar also has auto and does delay the fan, keeping it on low until the eng. temp raises then it goes to a higher speed. Then it levels off. I've never researched whether a C5 has an engine temp delay fan switch installed when it's equipped with dual zone auto climate control. I prefer the AUTO mode because it uses the A/C compressor to prevent windows fogging up. I also keep the right side **** in the red zone in the cold months to try to balance the heat in the cabin.

Never use auto mode, but I think it is working properly (maybe not the way it could be, but the way GM intended).
