Default Exhaust advice quick! Should I ...

Need opinions quick regarding exhaust choices... Currently have a stock exhaust on my 99 C5. We all know that this system does nothing for looks and sound. However, I have been slowly researching systems and have been very interested in GHL and B&B PRTs. What I am looing for in a system is:

1) Nice looking exhaust from behind as compared to its current nasty view. Dual round or oval tips is a must!
2) Increased sound, meaning a little louder sound is a must. Be honest here guys! I also have a CBR929 with a lot of racing mods including an exhaust so I know what LOUD is... If I was the only one in the vette all the time than I would not have a problem with a loud system. If I am going for a weekend trip with girlfriend, I want us to be able to talk and not have a problem with resonance or to much noise.

I am also trying to buy something at a good price as compared to just buying it new. That is why I do not have the PRTs or GHL yet, since forum members due not typically sell those.

Current dilema:
Recently purchased a used Z06 system from a forum member in perfect shape but have not installed it yet. At the moment I have a chance to buy a used Borla Street Performance system at about 1/2 its original price. I am debating keeping the Z06 system and buying the Borla instead. The Z06 system does have better tips than I currently have and weighs a ton less but it seems that Z06 owners are still choosing aftermarket system instead. Is this because any aftermarket system is less restrictive than even the Z06 system? With considering appearance, sound and price what should I do???

- Install the Z06?
or
buy the used Borla Street Performance System (not Stinger) which bolts on like the stock?
or
sell the Z06 system, don't buy the Borla and save more money for the GHLs or PRTs?

Opinions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks

You already have the Z06 stuff so try it first.. If it is not the sound you want then you haven't lost much.I have corsa indys. I like everything except the poping. I have the X pipe also and it DOES NOT stop ALL the poping. so there you have my opinion... not worth much ..

I'd throw on the Z06 system first and see if you like it. Then listen to other vette's that have aftermarket exhausts and see which one you like the best.

Anything is better than stock! :yesnod:

Don't know what the Borla street system is. I have Stingers and they are awesome. They are loud when on the gas but at 80 mph cruise they are quiet. No drone No resonance.

I would recommend that you take a look at Borla Stingers, they are very reasonable $$ wise, not much of a $ difference compaired to what you can sell the Z06 Ti exhaust you have for... they are also light, within a couple pound of the Z06 Ti exhaust. They sound great, but they are only loud when excellerating or at high rpms... on the highway they are close to stock sounding.

I have the B&B PRT's with Quad Oval Tips. Looks and sounds awsome. Supposed to be a little bit louder than the Stingers.

There is just a little bit of resonance at 1400-1600 rpm, but just under load, no problem at cruise.

At cruise speeds they are quiet enough that you can hear yourself think. :yesnod:

At WOT, everyone can hear what you are thinking. :D

One of the forum vendors has a group purchase on PRT's going on, 699.00 and they throw in an exhaust plate. This is a very good price. Do a search and check it out.

Thanks guys for all off your feedback. I have said no on the Borla Street Performance system and have decided to try out the Z06 system. If I am not happy with that system then I will be selling that one and most likely getting the Stingers or PRTs.

Thx

I installed the Z06 exhaust on our 03 AE Vert last month and I love it. It is different than the stock C5 exhaust. It is more open and sounds deeper I love it. I originally wanted B&B with speedway tips, but the Z06 Ti is here to stay. With a lift however it sure is easy to change a cat back, so if you don't like the Z06 exhaust it's not much problem to change it.
