my a/c comes on by itself when i start my car!
any ideas whats wrong w/it?
if i put the key in and turn it one place at a time(on,acc, start) its ok but if i just turn it all at once it comes on
also i have the memory settings turned off but the drivers seat moves forward and then back just a little bit
help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've had the same problems with my 99. I cured it for a while by disconnecting the Battery's negative wire for 10 sec. Then you have to reset everything, and redo the memory settings. (redo the memory setting with A/C off)
I also had that same funny seat movement, even with easy entry off. This got rid of it for a while.
For some reason these problems returned, after leaving it parked nearly a week. This time I redid all of the above, except I reprogramed everything to respond to key fob #2.(I still got errors with #1) Now, everything works like it should, and even the memory seat operates normally.

You probably already know this, but make sure you hold the memory button with the AC off until the memory button's light flashes. Also, make sure you're setting the memory for the correct FOB. IE, if you're using FOB 1, press and hold the number 1 memory button.
Man, I don't even think that "Untouchable's" Old Lady will be able to fix it. I'm on my third C5, and I've had this problem on two of 'em. My current '99 vert does the same thing - a/c comes on, no matter how many times I reset the memory, chant, and wave chicken feet over the car. Also, every once in a while, the seat moves back to the Wilt Chamberlain setting. Honestly, I've just learned to live with it, and chalk it up to the ghost of Duntov.

It's been a while since mine did this, but if I remember right I read something that said the memory feature of the car remembers the last settings of the HVAC controls as well as the radio when the car is turned off and the key removed. I've been in the habit of turning off the AC before shutting the car down and it hasn't given me a problem since.
I could be wrong though, I just get into habits like that and forget why I started them in the first place....
Thanx for all the suggestions! Now my key fob wont work
It works when I reset it (hold lock and unlock) but then it stops
works just long enuff to either lock or unlock!
Im gonna get a new battery for the fob and disconnect the negative cable and reset everything in memory and see where it gets me!
Thanx again!
ok, now I have all the memory features working correctly but the key fob wont work.
I have relearned and resynced it but after one cycle of lock and unlock, it stops working
after doing this relearn numerous times the car started honking twice instead of once and the doors started locking and unlocking continuously on their own until I put the key in (the alarm also went off)
Does anyone think that I may have a bad fob and need a new one?
I certainly wouldn't rule that out (new FOB needed). Maybe someone close to your area could let you try one. If not, a friend of mine has a few FOBs left from a GP he participated in that he'd probably let one go at a very reasonable price. If you're interested in that, let me know what year your car is and I'll see if he has the correct FOB for that year model.
Good luck....

The computer remembers the last settings, so I don't think setting the memory with A/C on or off will help. Also, if it is set to auto it will turn the A/C on because the computer is set to run the A/C to keep the humidity down in the air. A/C will always be on in the defroster, or defroster/feet settings as well.
Try keeping it set to a mode you like (maybe feet/head) and setting a temperature and fan speed and keep it running like that for a bit with the A/C off, turn off the car and when you get back in see what happens. I haven't had a problem with mine yet. It doe what I tell it to! :yesnod:
Guess what - buying a newer Vette won't solve the problem either - my '02 does the same thing, as did my '98 and '01. Bring back the manual climate control!!!!!! :smash:
