Default Dual Climate Control bulb problems

Hello!

First post on here, but I am thoroughly on these forums every week trying to learn something new.

I recently embarked on changing out the incandescent bulbs behind the HVAC buttons after they all burned out. Thank you for everyone with instructions on how to do that.

They all work, problem is, they stay on all the time even with the car off! Which of course killed my battery after I noticed it... I work at an electronics manufacturing facility so one of our best solderers reflowed, cleaned, etc. and made sure all of my work was fine (and it was).

So, for now, I've removed all of the bulbs until I can figure out the problem. I've seen a few threads on the issue but many have just ended up replacing the unit (which doesn't come cheap...) so I wanted to see if someone had successfully resolved this issue?

Wiring issue? BCM? Relay somewhere? It would seem that a relay is stuck open all the time when it shouldn't be. Thanks ahead of time! If someone has a power board to sell, I may be interested if there is no true resolution.

I think I would check those solder points out. Sounds one may have flowed on to a hot vein on the board.

I have seen that a few times. Usually you inadvertently shorted something or drew too much current and the board is bad. Contact travis at Vetteronics. He replaced a bad board in my head unit for a VERY reasonable price and replaced the incandescent bulbs with the PROPER ones. He also resoldered the resistors and has an AWESOME warranty. The OE bulbs are, if I remember, like 38 ohms. I had measured mine and then bought some that other ones forum members recommend - lower resistance and burn very hot - sometimes to the point of button damage if run long enough. Many people on here are buying bulbs that fit and ignoring resistance and current draw. Be sure to tell him everything you did - and the order it happened. I had an oops once, and told him everything and he had it diagnosed before I even mailed it in - very good service experience!

His work is superb and he is a great guy. You can see his contact info here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/C5-CORVETTE...eBBO:rk:9:pf:0
