One issue, getting into reverse can still be problematic, maybe even a little worse than the stock shifter. I might call MGW to see if there is an adjustment needed. I did have the alignment tool when I installed the shifter, so nothing should be misaligned. Thoughts?
IIRC reverse has no synchros (common on many vehicles) so if the teeth don't line up it won't go in. If mine doesn't go in I pop it in neutral, clutch out/in, and try again. Always goes in on 2nd try.
The Vette's garage mate is DW's Fiat 500 Abarth. It has the exact same issue

Yep, I do that, even shifting into a forward gear, rocking the car a bit, then shifting into reverse. Still hard to get in about 1/2 the time.
I thought about that but didn’t see a way to pull it out. I installed an MGW shifter a few days ago and put some super glue around the outer part of the brass insert and let it get down in the crack and it worked. No more rattle!
Also as far as going in reverse, the MGW slides into reverse no problem most of the time, sometimes I have to go to 4th then R but no big deal. Goes into R much better than my stock shifter did. Love it
Now that I've had the MGW in for a few weeks, and gotten a few hundred miles on it, shifter feel is now as close to perfect as it will get. Break in for the shifter (and driver) has really helped and completely satisfied with the MGW and Anti-Venom mod (2 washers).
How do you know when the reverse lockout solenoid is bad? What are the symptoms? Will it throw a code?
With the key off, you should not be able to get into reverse. With the key ON you should be able too (engine running or not running)
Out of curiosity, try this...
1) Put the key in the ON position but don't start the car, try to go into reverse, it should go.
2) Put car back into neutral, start car, try reverse again.
Is it much easier to get into reverse with the car off?
