Charge system fault
I have an 02 that for the past few years occasionally I would get a brief (2 seconds) "charge system fault" then it would go away and no issues. Well now it came back to stay. Battery draining. I changed the brush holder/ regulator as alternator was at least two years old, probably more and I figured brushes were worn out. They were. Bench checked at an alternator repair shop and tested good. Put it on the car, same thing, discharging when running. Took it off, took it to Oreillys for a second opinion, tested good again. Put it back on, looked at starter wires as been suggested and took them off, and back on to ensure they were good. Same result. Ran a separate wire from hot post of alternator to hot post of battery to bypass the starter wire possibility. Same result. Drove it to the oreilys for an on car diognosis. Tested bad voltage regulator.
My question is is there anything else that would say bad voltage regulator in the system that wouldn't be the voltage regulator? Thanks for any help!!!!!!

Yeah if the voltage regulator is not a valeo regulator. I had the same issue with a O'reilly' alternator. Went through 3 from them. I gave up and went to a local place finally that had valeo rebuilds for $149 for C5 vettes. Issue went BYE BYE.
