I bought my 2001 C5 6 speed manual in 2017 with 20,000 miles. Now it has 28,000 miles. Over the past couple of months the clutch pedal has stuck 4 times. It has happened when I might be turning into a parking space or exiting a space ...where you have to "ride" or finesse the clutch a little.....when I would take my foot off the clutch it would only come up about half way...and at that point pressing down on the pedal would not do anything ...but pulling the pedal up by placing my foot undeath it has worked, but am afraid this may lead to a bigger issue...someone suggested it might be a clutch cylinder or a slave cylinder...which are foreign to me. As I am not mechanically inclined, would like any thought anyone could share. Thanks. Barry
Have you checked the fluid level in the clutch master resivoir?
How embarrassing! It looks to be a little low. The cap says fill to "step" with DOT 3 brake fluid. Guessing "step" is noticeable area inside. Did wipe out some black residue along sides inside. Will get brake fluid and add. I can't believe I did not think to check that! Thanks!

Reason: mistake

The only reason I suspected low fluid, I just had this happen recently, pedal not fully returning after installing a Katech remote clutch bleeder, after about a month it started doing this, found fluid low and topped off.
I'm watching to see if the level goes down again, which means a leak, checking about once a week.
I think step is that ridge.

Also, I think that rubber sock thing is supposed to be pushed up in the middle to make it more compact, after finding my fluid low, the sock was sucked out, so I pushed it back in like it always was before.
As mentioned, keep an eye on the fluid level. If it is dropping, you have a leak somewhere. Look for fluid dripping near the rear of the engine or drips on the ground. That would likely be the slave cylinder. Check the master cylinder under the hood for leaks AND check the carpet in the driver's foot well. Sometimes a leaky master cylinder leaks through the fire wall.
Apparently it was low. I guess now time will tell if that was the problem. I will keep an eye on the fluid level.. per chance
there's a leak. I really appreciate your taking the time to respond and most likely saving me a lot of $ if I had to take it
to the dealership.
