I need to replace one of my axle shafts. I’m curious can the axle shaft seals be replaced easily at the same time? It looks like they could pop out fairly easily and I could press in a new seal without too much effort. Or is this more involved than I’m thinking?

its very easy.... I would definitely put a new seal in with a new half-shaft.

Perfect! I imagine a small screwdriver would even get it out no seal puller needed (although I have one). If I jack up the rear of the car only and pull this seal out will diff fluid come out? I imagine no but just checking.

As long as your diff isn’t overfilled, very little fluid should come out. I wouldn’t be surprised if you get a little bit though. Are your seals original? You’ll notice a huge difference (for the better) with the new seals as the design has been revised to be more robust. I was very surprised by how much stiffness/structure was added to the new ones. I’ll hopefully never have to do them again!
A small screwdriver should work fine for removal. Just be careful you don’t mark the cover surface the seal presses into. The only other thing you’ll need is a large socket/pipe the same diameter as the metal ring of the seal to install the new one. I changed mine during a clutch swap so the diff was out. It’ll be tight working with it in the car, but definitely doable.
