Did the shifter adjustment/alignment procedure recently to remedy the grinding when shifting into reverse. Finally got the car out on the road today. I still have the grinding on an intermediate basis now and wonder if I need to replace the whole shifter. Have 89,016 miles on the car. TMOD Customs sells the rebuilt lower box but don't know if that will do the trick.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What clutch do you have installed?
Do you have the OEM master cylinder still?
Have you bled your clutch recently?
Do you ever have issues shifting at high RPMs in 1-6th gears?
Do you ever have issues shifting into 1st gear when starting out from a stop?

What clutch do you have installed? Unknown, just recently bought this car from a Chevy dealer
Do you have the OEM master cylinder still? Yes
Have you bled your clutch recently? No
Do you ever have issues shifting at high RPMs in 1-6th gears? No

If your clutch fluid looks cloudy/yellow/black I would consider using the "Ranger Method" to replace some of the fluid. I assume you don't have a speed bleeder or anything so bleeding may pose a challenge. I would certainly tackle the cheap/free tasks before spending the cash on a new shifter assembly. If I must recommend a shifter though, MGW is the bees knees.
If you don't have issues with any other gears under any circumstances, I have a hard time believing it's the shifter or shifter alignment. It may just be the fact that reverse doesn't have a syncro like the main 1-6 gears so if you try to put the car in reverse before the drivetrain has a chance to slow down/stop spinning once clutch is disengaged, it may grind sometimes.
Are you "rushing" into reverse? I'd be curious if you could replicate the problem by trying to do so. Then try disengaging the clutch and waiting a few seconds before trying reverse. See if you notice whether the issue goes away.

Clutch fluid didn't look terrible but got out the ole turkey baster and did the initial ranger method a week ago. The new fluid is much clearer than the old was. I'll check it again after driving it some and redo the change.
No problem in any of the other gears. Only reverse as I let the clutch out. It doesn't grind going into gear but doesn't appear as if it's going alll the way into the reverse gear. 1st and 3rd gear no problem. Not rushing into reverse either but I'll try that.
Just sharing my experience. I had the exact same issue. When replacing my clutch back in December, I decided to have the transmission rebuilt. Turns out my reverse gear needed to be replaced. No problems with reverse now. Of course it was an expensive solution, but the entire transmission was upgraded at the same time.
