My harmonic balancer recently started wobbling, and there is an annoying chirping noise, I’m not that experienced to fix this by myself, does anyone know someone who can fix this when I get the replacement part in?
It's a BIG job. Pleanty of posts on how to's on the forum. Find a knowledgable friend or call around local shops for a price. Expect to pay between 500 and a 1000.
I did my balancer myself not really that hard. If you bring it to a shop be sure that the mechanic is familiar with the procedure. The balancer doesn't just pop on...good luck
Provide that info and I'm SURE that someone will be able to point you in the direction of a good Shop in your area that can properly service a LS engine.
Like it was previously stated, it's not your dads good ole Chevy 283 small block that need a balancer.
The LS engine requires a few of MUST HAVE tools and NEED TO KNOW information to properly replace it.
Like someone else stated, it's NOT rocket science and is doable by the DYI guy but, you just have to do a little research to do it CORRECTLY!

Just had a new balancer done at my local Chevy dealer 3 weeks ago. Charged $700 for the balancer, bolt and seal installed. BTW, book says 4.5 hrs labor.
Recommended 4 wheel alignment. $106. Total was $806 out the door. I am too old to be crawling around on the garage floor and no way could i pull 240 ft lbs torque on the bolt on jack stands.

just wondering how much is too much wobble when it’s running it is very slight doesn’t really look like it’s wobbling, i spayed water on where I thought the squeak was coming from, and it went away. Should I just replace the belt or should I just replace the whole harmonic balancer?

im located in Bay Area, also if I replace the belt and the noise goes away should I still replace the balancer, when I looked at it does not even look like it’s wobbling but when I spray water on it the squeak goes away that why i assumed that it was the blancer. When the engine is off and I try to move it is solid no play at all.

replace the belt first and see if the noise goes away. Sounds like that will fix your problem.

im waiting for my gatorback belt to come in, say that fixes the issue ....should I still look into replace the balancer, I just don’t want something major to break I also noticed there is some dirt like substance on the inner rim of the balancer also on the engine where the pulleys aré at.
That is a very good belt and should take care of the chirp
Post a vid of the HB while engine running for a minute or two with good light on it and one of us could determine how bad is, if bad at all.

Do yourself a HUGE favor. When you decide to get it replaced don't let ANYONE talk you into a OEM Factory replacement balancer.
I have heard and read horror stories of new OEM replacements going bad. Insist on at least a Dayco Powerbond replacement balancer. Far superior to the factory units.
A lot of guys here have used them with no complaints.

Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista. Go there. They will take care of you, just like they take care of what looks like a dozen or so corvettes every single day.
Start with the belt. That's easy enough.
Failing that, take it to Abel. If they recommend a new balancer, get an aftermarket unit (Rich will give you a good recommendation, you will buy it and have it drop-shipped to their shop if you leave your car there), and inquire about having it pinned while you're at it.
