Default PCV Mystery

I pulled the PCV off to replace it and it sure don’t look like the replacement that I bought. Is it suppose to be one piece consisting of the rubber boot and strap. I didn’t see how the boot could come off the existing valve with the mounting strap on it. It was clean with no oil in it and rattled freely. The third picture is the valve that Ibought as a direct replacement. What am I not getting here? TIA

it’s a bit challenging to remove, but yeah, the valve will pull out of that boot. Just be carful you don’t rip the boot when doing so. That’s a more difficult piece to track down if you need it.

Is the strap part of the valve or part of the boot?

Make a video showing how you take it out of the boot.

The strap is just used as a heat transfer device to keep the PCV from freezing. If you don't drive in a lot of sub-freezing temps you don't need it.

You might also want to check the rubber y behind the intake. They have a tendency to rot away. If you don't mind not being all original you can replace it with this little guy. They are push lock air fittings If memory serves it uses a 3/8 inch one.
