Default C5 ABS and Traction Control error messages

What is typically the fix when you get ABS and Traction Control faults (at the same time) on a C5?

to get any help on this you need to get all dtc's and list them here.
if you don't know how to retrieve trouble codes watch this short vid. include the h and/or c after each code. once you give us the codes it can help narrow down what the issue might be

some of the many possibilities are:
weak battery
bad ground
ebcm going out
bad ignition switch
etc etc etc

Thanks, JonnyO. So, the codes could tell me where the problem actually lies? Battery issue, ebcm, bad ground, etc.?

it depends on what codes you have.but they will help narrow it down.also include what year the car is.

basically right now you are asking the doctor "i don't feel right what's wrong with me" without giving him anymore info.

Yup, I get it. I'll see what codes I can procure from this 2001 tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

If it’s the ebcm, hopefully you have a 2001 or later.

What if it were a 2000 or earlier ebcm?

You have all those codes thrown? Wow. I would clear them all and drive the car and see what comes back.

Def clear them all and re drive. H means history. 1214 is C. That’s typically the ebcm code. What year is the car?

Yeah, if the C1214 H C ("Sol Valve Relay Contact or Coil CKT Open") pertains to the ebcm, I guess that would make sense since he told me that he's been seeing the ABS and Traction Control faults for a while. Yes, I thought I read that the "C" after that fault means "current".

If it’s the ebcm which it sounds like it is, absfixer.com can fix it for $150. Mine is there now. Had the same 1214 code abs, tc, active handling. I didn’t have the ***** to solder it myself.

Ah, that's good to know. Yes, I've heard of them. Correct me if I'm wrong....but I also saw a couple of Vendors who claim to be able to rebuild the 1997-2000 ebcm, albeit for a bit more money....ranging from $280 to around $500. One goes by the company name ASI and the other is automotivemodules.com.

Not exactly sure either. Since your car is an 01, you don’t need to worry about the ebcm year break.

Well....I haven't bought it yet....and I've seen some nicer "older" Vettes near by (with lower miles), that might be a bit more in line with my budget. So, I'm trying to gain as much background knowledge as I can. I thank you for all your input! Let me know how absfixer.com does with your unit. Seems like they've got a good thing going.

I’d buy newer rather than older, if possible.

Yeah....I know. Believe it or not.....this would be my 15th Corvette (lifetime), if I can possibly manage to get one again. Economics are not it my favor these days, however.
