Rest gear swap

How hard is it to swap the years in the diff on a C5? Do you need to pull it or can it be done while in the car?

Not your typical DIY project. Gotta pull the pumpkin to get to it. Special tools are required not to mention knowledge.

Are you referring to changing the individual ring/pinion gears of the rear unit that is in your car or changing out your complete unit to a different (year) C/5 unit.

If taking the ring/pinion gears out & reinstalling different ones...You would want to have that done by a competent mechanic.
You would need to pull the rear end unit out of the car to do either procedure.
