Default 2001 Tire pressure sensor problem

I had a local tire shop replace the left rear tire pressure sensor as mine was not working. They replaced it with an after market sensor, now it won't talk to the computer. We can get the other 3 original ones to calibrate and read ok, but the new one won't calibrate. I have tried to calibrate them at home and can get the original 3 to calibrate using a magnet, but the new one won't calibrate for me either) I'm just wondering if the after market sensors are not compatible to the computer or are they not calibrating it correctly? I understand that for the 1997 to 2000 sensors had 2 different generations. Would this be the same in the 2001 models?

Had the same problem this week. I installed two aftermarket sensors in the front wheels and they would not calibrate. A friend in the auto shop I work in helped me and out of desperation, he tried the method that other GM cars use which is letting air out of the LF tire till the horn beeps and going on to the other wheels doing the same. Son of a gun if it didn't work. Shouldn't have, but did. Give it a try. Good luck! The RH Factor
