Default Electrical Issue with New HID Headlights for C5

Thank you all in advance for any help/suggestions you may have.

I have a 1999 coupe with a good deal of engine mods or mods in general and I just installed HID projector headlights for both low beam and high beam. It was a pain the butt to get this far but they are installed completely and I have had success with pop up and down and light in both sides low and high beams.

The problem is the low beams keep blowing the 10 amp fuse in the under hood fuse box. I think the vendor indicated that the fuses in the HID product are 20 amp. I am not sure if I need a bigger amp fuse for these low beams now that they are HID and if so how much beigger.

Again, any and all help is appreciated.

Chuck

Do you have a relay harness or are the HIDs drawing power directly from the car harness?

10 amps gets you 120 watts, and as I recall, there are separate fuses for each bulb. You should not be drawing more than 55 watts on each bulb.

You beat me to the reply,
Lack of a good fused wiring harness for the HIDs can cause many electrical issues.......been there, fixed that.
Jim

You would need to use one wiring harness for each pair of ballasts

I believe the product came with a relay harness for each side (JW Motoring)
