As of yesterday, when I click the fob or the door lock control button, the driver door lock WILL cycle closed, but will NOT cycle open and must be manually unlocked. I see that it is attempting to, but it either is not executing sufficient force or the handle may be stuck.
Does anyone have experience with this? Quick fix, or a replacement part number?
Odd that it works in one direction but not the other.

Some info on the subject from another Forum member:
Have the same problem on my 01. Chevy parts said they only sell complete latch assembly, $350.00 even tho the actuator is a separate unit. The actuator appears to be used on all GM cars of the same year and you can find them for sale online but they don't have the anti theft part with them. Maybe some other member has more info on this problem.
The door lock actuator can be purchased for as little as $20.00 online or at auto parts store. But I have not found a solution for the anti theft part.
The anti theft part of door latch assembly is a plastic tube on the lock actuator part of the latch. It has a rod with two metal contacts that slide up and down in the tube. A two wire connection is at the top. When you look online for a replacement actuator it says the anti theft part is not included. Will post more info when I have it.
What happens if you replace it without the security feature? Or can you cannibalize that part of your old one? I may be having this problem on my passenger door.
I had the same issue when I bought my 02, passenger door would unlock but not lock, it was a small rely in the RDCM that went bad. I removed the RDCM and opened it up, and there are 3 relays in there (I think, it may be 4) I ordered relays from Digi-Key for about $3 and had a friend replace the relay and all's good. May not be your issue but worth checking out. Good luck
I replaced the relays in my door module. Not an overly hard job. Got the relays from digikey (cheap). Took an hour start to finish. Working like a charm.
I had a similar problem years ago and bought a lock mechanism off eBay for 13.00 to try. It fixed the problem and is still on the car. Most people thought it would be a relay. I got lucky I guess.
