Default C5 -98 that won't start

Hi,

I need help from you experts out there... I bought a C5 -98, that had a litle damage on the front (right) fender, but also not running.

So after fixing the damageed fender I had to take care of the reason for my the car didnt start. I started to replace the ECU without any other work done, and plugged it in. The car started perfectly, but I had the ABS and Airbag lamp on. So I took the car to a dealer so that they could turn them of.

I dont know what they did, but after some hours of work they succeded to make the car not to start again, and ofcours they gave up...

Anyone outhere that could guide me to the solution on what to do to make the car run again?

Thanks, Anders

Hej !!
First thing I'd do is see if there are any codes using the DIC...So was the PCM replaced ??...you had said you "started" to replace it and plugged it in...so it ran OK when you took it to a dealer and they took care of the ABS and Airbag lights and then the car won't start now ??...is it a "cranking no start" or "no crank no start" ??...if it is a "cranking no start" I would check to see if the PCM is powered up...the easiest way to check is to see if you have a 5 volt reference at a sensor...the MAF sensor is fairly easy to check...with key ON you should have 5 volts at the yellow wire !!

Thanks for reply... The PCM is not replaced, just replaced the ECM to a old one purchased from Ebay. Just plugged it in, and it started...

After the shop had it, it cranks but no fire... Any further ideas?

We normally call the engine computer the PCM...also called ECM/ECU...a PCM is not "plug and play" !!...it needs to be programmed...was it ??...in the picture it is the silver colored module !!

Hi, thanks for info...

I did not perform any programming, just plug and play with the ”new” box.

How come it started after this, and died at the dealers workshop? I belive that they tried to do som programming that was was canceled after 40% due to some error.

How can I do the programming, I just ordered a Tech 2 with candi module.

Just throwing this out there...
Every time for whatever reason, I load a new tune on my 99, the car wont start until I disconnect and re connect the battery. Something to do with the early model C5's
