Looking for any first hand info on replacing a broken Ignition Switch Bezel. No need to take out the Ignition Cylinder. I'm hoping I don't need to remove the Radio Bezel completely, just maybe move it back a little to access the Switch Bezel. Has anybody ever had to do this? Thank you.
I replace that bezel, but it was a LONG time ago, and my memory is a little fuzzy I do remember that the bezel, itself, just goes in and then a "quarter turn" locks the retaining tabs in place. If I recall correctly, you have to remove the lower dash close out panel, then the dash trim fascia, to access the key bezel.
If you are talking about the black ring around the ignition switch, you need to remove the radio bezel. The ring requires a considerable amount of force to remove. You need to bezel out of the way.
Replaced the Ignition Switch and then went to snap in the round plastic bezel in front of the Ignition Switch. Took me about a HALF HOUR. Couldn't get the 2 tabs on the bezel to snap in.
Took a few minutes to analyze the issue and determined that the VATS wire which wraps around the lockset was interfering with the tangs which snap into the switch to keep the bezel in place.
Had to keep the VATS sensor wires clear of the tangs. Took a while but was successful after playing with the wire.
