Default Best Catch Can

Going to add a catch can to my stock 2002 C5 Coupe. Looking at the original Elite Engineering base model. Do not track the car. Should I also get the clean side oil separator? Any other brands that anyone would recommend or suggestions?

Thanks

I have the Elite Engineering. I like it because it unscrews from the bottom and is easy to empty and replace.

I have not heard about a clean side separator. I'll have to look into that.

A catch can is a catch can. If you're not tracking the car, just about any will do. Elite Engineering makes fine stuff and I have one of theirs about to be mounted.

Whichever is cheaper between Mighty Mouse and Elite Engineering is what I'd get. I ended up with the Mighty Mouse.

Clean side oil separator. I did some searching around and it looks like there are ads and articles regarding C6 and C7 cars, but not any on the C5. There are also articles that talk about the oil separator being installed in place of any air pollution hoses. If your hoses are all stock, I don't think I'd worry about that piece. If you are getting a catch can, you might want to take off your intake manifold and clean it out with some Purple Power so you don't have any gunked up residual.

Good luck.

I installed the EE catch can a month or two ago. Super easy install and everything lined up great. Took about an hour with taking my time and sipping some beer. Parts felt high quality. I realize it cost a premium but at least I felt the price in the machining.

Oh quick piece of advice that you may not need if you arent an idiot like myself: you bolt the catch can bracket to the bottom two holes on the side of the block. I bolted them into the top two holes, was surprised by what a tight fit it was, then realized it was a tight fit because i tied into the wrong ones.

I use the Mighty Mouse Wild can with the road race setup. I also revised the PCV system as instructed by Mighty Mouse. I went from filling my Elite can every 20min track session to catching a few ounces for a whole day, and as far as I can tell I'm no longer getting any oil in my intake manifold. I don't know how serious you are, but if you're doing a good amount of performance driving this is the best setup I've found.

Short block
I have an elite engineering catch can on my 02. Easy to install and easy to remove can to empty. Also have the clean side separator which I am going to remove. Really don't need a catch can unless you track your car. However, I had my engine rebuilt with forged pistons and I will leave the dirty side can on to keep the engine as carbon free as possible since it is pristine right now.

Looks nice. How big is your cam for the pistons to have that much relief?
