What year are your car ?

"DTC C1243 can be set when the pump motor relay has been commanded off after the pump motor has been on. A malfunction has occurred if the pump motor was on, and the EBCM sensed a stuck or slowly turning pump motor " from the manual .

Car year is VERY IMPORTANT with any help you are requesting.

Many people have resolved this issue by exercising the Break Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) pump motor. If you don't use it; over time the pump and motor will get sluggish. The EBTCM see that as a high current demand and or failure to build the correct pressure and sets the DTC.

Note: The EBTCM does a self test every time that you turn the key to ON and checks that out. Does it come on at key ON or shortly there after? Have you checked out the pump motor Ground on the back of the motor (97-2000 only) The 2001+ have the pump ground via a wire in the connector under the main connector on the EBTCM.

When was the last time you flushed the brake fluid??
You can get a TECH 2 and command the motor to run OR you can connect it to an external 12 VDC supply voltage and run the pump that way. Some have changed all the brake fluid and then used the tech 2 to run the motor to help the flush the system.

In the end, you need to exercise that motor more and most of the time it prevents the issue from reoccurring again after its fixed.. Then you need to drive the car a little more aggressively so that you use the Anti Lock brakes or the Active Handling (if you have that option) so the pump runs more often.

If I find a safe straight non-traffic road, I run the car up to 60-70 mph and plant my foot to the floor on the brake peddle Activating the antilock brake system. Pump runs and system is exercised. If the road is WET, it puts a little less wear and tear on the tires and car. NOTE, if,,, all is working correctly, the car SHOULD stop straight and very quickly. If you have not tried out this breaking feature, you are doing your car and your self a disservice.

Bill
