My question is , will or can a FRC roof replace the soft top on a convertible? I see one offered on ebay (FRC Top) and it looks as though the FRC top bolts on in the front in the windshield area and would replace the top tonneau lid.
I have looked at Smoothline tops and they are around $2500 or so and the FRC top is around $500.

Just a question..
YES IT IS!! There is a thread on the conversion somewhere in the past. Do an advanced search and see if you can find it. It can be done!

are you looking for something permanent or removable?
the actual FRC roof is glued in (windshield & body) vs a removable hard top that can replace the normal convertible soft top
I'm not really sure, I bought the convertible , but would like a hard top. I have been looking at the Smoothline tops but the price is a bit steep. I really like the look of the FRC and the Z06.
I am just more so curious if the FRC roof would fit.. You might ask why then I bought a soft top? Well, I got a great deal on it from the second owner and after I drove it I was hooked! So much so I sold my 1994 C4 in order to purchase the C5..

I AGREE! Its a permeant conversion rather than a switchable top!
It isn't quite that simple as a bolt on job but it can be done. search around the forum... the main issues are changing the front of the FRC top to mate to the convertible windshield frame and figuring out what to do with the waterfall. Basically, the car will think the deck lid is open because it isn't latched anymore, plus it will look ugly. I have seen guys get an extra deck lid and mate the FRC and convertible deck lid together for a clean look but it isn't easy.
