Default Let The Mods Begin...need advice please

K...finally after all talk...Im ready for some nice mods!

I got a nice bonus and am looking to spend about 2-3k in performance mods.

What do you guys reccomend...needs to be 2-3k installed and this car has to be reliable and driven daily.

I already basically have 3.42s...so only include install price on that. Not the actual price to buy them just to install.

This will be getting done at Cartek since they are the closest place to me...so cartek response would be nice too!

I basically figured it would either be Torque Converter route or bolt on route. Which do you think is better or what mods would you reccomend. i do go to the track sometime but mainly for street.

And I am worried about killin the trans with a TC but please give ur input.

Thanks

I would go with long tube headers, and a good intake...That would use up 1600-1800.....Might want to look at your exhaust also

Headers + install ~ $1400
SY 3500 + install (both SY and your 3.42's) ~ $1200
Programming (highly recommended) ~ $200-400 depending on what route you go.

That would be $3000-3200 total and should give you 15-20 more hp and a bunch of e.t. at the track with the gear/TC swap. For another $250, I would do the transgo ($100 parts/$150 install cost). Many A4 users swear by it.

It's always easier to spend other peoples money. Good luck.

Change the 3.42 to a 3.73 and you will experience way more fun than the Long tube headers...

Put a fairly conservative torque converter in there (2800) and upgrade the intake manifold to an LS6..

Oh by the way.. an Lingenfelter guy posted that LS6 exhaust manifolds flow as well as any shorty headers.. Going to LT without heads and Cam give maginal improvement..

So pick up a set of those LS6 exhaust manifolds before diving into the whole LT header gig...I have LT's but I my 4.10 gears were a bigger blast then all of my bolt ons together...

Here is what I would do....

Sell the 3.42 for $500
Buy a 3.73 from Andy ($1,195 -500 for the 3.42) Net $695
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=428214

LS6 Intake - $399 from SLP Online
LS6 Exhaust Manifold - Probably free from a forum member... ;)
T/C - about $800
Dyno Tune - $500 To get the most out of it all...

All Total $2400 leaving $600 for the install...

You will need another $3000 in plastic surgery to remove the smile from your face.. :D

What do you think of:

Keeping the 3.42...sold my 3.15 to CoH for 400 and bought the 3.42 for 575..so really only $175
PT 2800
Ls6 ex mainfold
ls6 intake
Tranny Cooler
= 1425 plus whatever cartket charges to install and tune it.

What you think of that?

I think you will be very impressed... :yesnod: Even without the 3.73's... ;)

The LT's are the MOST Overrated mod (pre H/C) on the forum. But most folks don't want to admit that after spending $1500 on em.. Like me..

Gears rock. No 2 ways about it...

If I had my choice on an MN6 car to put Every Bolton there was (not including Forced Induction ;) )

Or just put a set of 4.10 gears... The gears would win hands down...Plus blow the above car into oblivion at the track... :D

Well I think I will stay with the 3.42s and see how they are first than decide if i think i need 3.73s.

With the mods above...what do you think my 1/4 would be?

since you've already covered the air intake & catback...

Underdrive pulley $400-500 installed = 10 rwhp or $45 / rwhp
LT headers & X pipe $1400 installed = 16 rwhp or $87.50 / rwhp
Z06 intake $450 not installed = ?? maybe 10 rwhp or $60 / rwhp

this should get you to about 405 fwhp (since you have an A4 the rwhp would be lower than an M6 but still the same at the flywheel)
