I’m rebuilding my transmission and need some advice on which parts are usable and which aren’t. I’m rebuilding it because I have the first gear lock out problem when stopped. The first and second blocker rings are quite worn down so those are getting replaced along with the synchro assembly for first and second. Posted below is pictures of the synchro teeth on first gear, will I have the same problem with locking out of first gear if I use it? Or do I have to buy a new $350 gear? please let me know what you guys think!

In the 2nd picture at 9oclock you see the tooth smooshed. Others are rounded which isn’t a bad thing but just a couple with smooshed faces can cause the lock out, plus the surfaces will wear the new syncro assembly’s teeth as well.
I had 2nd gear popping out and the coffin shapes still looked good, the builder only put on a new syncro assembly but didn’t buy a new 2nd gear like I paid him for (among other things) and it was still popping out.
I did the transmission myself with a new gear (and a bunch of other goodies) and it’s perfection. I should’ve done the work myself instead of being lazy.

I’d buy the gear if I were you.
Yeah you’re spot on. Most teeth looks pretty good though there is a few bad ones. I’ll see if I can take better pictures focusing on the ones I think are bad.
The first tooth from the bottom after the space in this pic is chipped. The third from the bottom also looks like it has extra wear.
The tooth sitting right in the middle has some extra wear to it.
Where can I buy the gear at a reasonable price?
If its a zo6 you want the 2.97 and if it’s base car you want the 2.66
A company named AMP makes them for around $200 and they get good reviews. You can find them via google on eBay and other places. Your call whether the extra cash is worth the dice roll compared to genuine Tremec.
