I have a 2001 c5 corvette. On a hot day, it was blowing hot air on drivers side and cool on passenger side. I pulled the HVAC fuse, and it corrected the problem, until the next time I went to use the car. I tried that multiple additional times, but it never worked again. I purchased a dorman air door actuator, removed the dash and installed the unit. After I put it all back together, it did not solve the problem. I called dorman and they said try a hard reset (pull power to battery, turn on key for one minute to drain power). That also didn't work. I just pulled the unit, looking to go get a replacement (maybe it was a defect). I noticed that both the original unit and the dorman unit were stopped in the same direction (far right), but when I installed it, the position was in the center. Any suggestions.

Do you have the manual AC or Dual Zone climate control? Also, how much did you pay for the actuator. The $50 ones are for the manual system and the $90 ones are for the climate control.

I have the Dual Zone Control, and the one I purchased was $141 from Advance Auto Parts (part no 15490052, 604-106).

Well that definitely sounds like the right one. A bit much on the price. Unless you have something blocking the door, like a walnut or something , I have no idea why it wouldn't be cycling correctly. It's been some years now since I messed with them but I know the d z ones have a potentiometer in for position feedback. I'm wondering if there isn't something happening with that signal.
Don't throw away the one you took out, it likely is just fine.
Luckily I kept the original one. I still have the dash off so I will check to make sure nothing is blocking the full motion. I did check the movement of the vent and it moved easily by hand, but I didn't check if that was full motion.
