Looking for someone who has powder coated their calipers. I am wondering how thick the powder coat gets and how you kept it off of the letters (CORVETTE) on the front calipers. Also, did they come out smooth since the original caliper has a rough texture.
I bought a set of used calipers and one was damaged in shipping. The letters of the word CORVETTE were severely scratched and when I sanded them out the letter is not very high any more. I am concerned that the powder coating will simply cover the letter. Trying to figure out if I should replace the caliper before coating since the coating is a custom color and big bucks.
Powder coating is generally pretty thin (my guess is around .03-.05"), so it won't cover large surface imperfections, and but will defintely color the "Corvette" letters. Have you looked into Eastman's caliper painting kit? No flash custom colors, but an easy, do-it-yourself alternative.
