It really isn't a cold air intake. You are still sucking HOT air from the engine compartment. A true cold air intake takes air from the front of the car. The other version of this same filter is the one that has TWO cones on a Y pipe. Still not as good as a cold air intake.. Thee are several worth getting. I have a VARARAM and love it.
Check out your intake air temp (IAT) and see what it is on a hot day long drive in traffic and on the highway. If it isn't close to ambient outside air temp, your filter isn't doing you any favors. You will have to get Software that allows you to data log or get a scanner that displays real time sensor data.
