Hurst and MGW shift **** guys... or any other shift *****
I was trying to figure out what would be a good height for the shift ****. If I install it too low, it takes a lot more effort to shift... however, I think I get shorter throws.... but too much effort that sometimes I miss and grind gears b/c my shifts aren't in sync with the clutch. When I raise it a little, I get more leverage but shifting seems to be longer, but no more miss shifts/gear grind. And its much much easier to shift.
I think the optimal location for me (MGW shift *****) is about 4 full turns up from when the **** fully covers the shifter's thread; (approx 5 lines of the thread shows).

I have the MGW Gripper just for the reason you state. I can screw it way down to shorten my shifters height even more than the Hurst. I love it. After a while (about 2 to 3 K miles) the Hurst lossens up. But like everything thing Corvette everyone out here has his/her own opinion of what "IS BEST" so just because I like my set up doesn't mean you'll like it. But the neat thing about the MGW is the ease in which you can taylor the ****'s position. I'd start up high and go for a cruise, then start to lower it until it's all the way down. I'm sure somewhere in that 3/4 of an inch or so of adjustment you'll find what your looking for. I just cranked mine all the way done and secured it and love the look and feel.
