Default The horn just stop working

Have a C5. The didn’t work couple of weeks ago and, then, the same day, started working again. Then yesterday it stopped working. Checked the fuse. It is fine.
Any suggestions?

Take a look at the circuit. Check the horn relay and fuse first, but it's usually the horn membrane.

You can get it here and replace it yourself by following

I had a Forum member swing by last month to diagnose his horn and the HORN was bad but I did go through each step of the “diagnostic process” with him so he would learn something....does the horn work with the “panic button” on the key FOB ???...if it DOES everything is good in the circuit except the contacts in the horn membrane which is the other way the coil side of the relay is energized...if panic button method doesn’t work I’d swap the horn relay with another 4 pin relay like the fuel pump and see if the horn works...if not now take a jumper wire between terminals 87 and 30 (pictured)..does the horn work ??...if still no good you just might have to physically access the horn connector and see if you have power going to it and I’d check the ground too...might be a good idea to remove the horn itself and apply power and ground to it with some jumper wires from the battery.

Very informative and common sense suggestions. Gave me several ways to go before replacing membrane.
Thanks

Don’t just replace the horn membrane without checking the things I had suggested...you don’t want to replace it and have the horn still not work !!

One other thing to check, I had the same problem and found the single spring loaded power wire that connects through the steering wheel hub had broken. Somehow the 2 prongs that lock in the wire in place had broken off.
just my $.02
good luck

OK, I have read through this but still having issues. I replaced the horn membrane 2 years ago and the horn stopped working again. I thought it might be the multi-purpose switch ( was having problems with right turn signal not lighting sometimes) so just replaced it. Still no luck. Tried switching relays and no luck. I jumped the horn and it works and works when I hit the fob. I would say that it is the membrane again, but when I connect a test light to the relay terminal, the battery positive and push the horn button it lights up. I assume that means the membrane is working and grounding like it should. Now it is hit and miss on lighting up, but I would think the horn would sound intermittently. Any ideas? I hate to replace the membrane and still no horn.

Thanks for any help (I know it is an old thread)!!

Something I've done in the past is try arming the alarm by locking car with remote. If you have the lock settings set to just flash lights, you'll have to go into the DIC, open the options menu, and activate "Horn and Lights" when you unlock with keyless remote. Or you can try pushing the "panic" button. If either of these actions make your horn blow, you know horn is good. Might be the horn membrane behind the airbag. They get old and dry up, then you have no horn. C&S Corvettes in Sarasota, Florida, carry a re-po membrane, and ship anywhere. Very reasonable ......
