Depending on the brand of headers, it is a relatively common/known issue. If everything is properly torqued and you’re still getting contact, your only option is to mark the area where there is contact, remove the header, and “clearance” the area with a hammer to allow it to clear.

Or return the headers for another set

I've been researching headers and this sounds like a very common occurrence.

What brand of headers did you go with? How did the install go otherwise? Do you have a lift or were you using jack stands?

They are TSP headers. I just finished putting a new clutch and slave in the car so the headers were a breeze compared to that. They were not that bad. They prob took me and a buddy about 5 hours to install. I have a lift in my garage. However I had to lower down to lift the motor up on the driver side so you can do it on the ground.

I got in touch with TSP. They are sending another pair of headers out to me. Dan C was pretty awesome to deal with. Once the new headers arrive I just send the back the headers I took off so they can figure out what happened.

On a C5 after inatlling LT headers you must be careful on the pass side to have enough clearance on the A/C lines
The often touch or are too close and the A.C will not work You need to bend the AC lines away from the LT headers to have at least 3/8 to 1/2 inch clearance

ALSO without proper tuning LT headers will make no extra HP or very little gains---Main reason is that LT headers move the front 02 bungs as much as 2-3 ft aft--- and they are not designed to work properly that far back--Almost always LT's will make your engine run rich---no gains in HP or TQ---A tuner can tune out the false 02 readings by adjusting your front 02 switching points to get your P/T fueling back to the Stoich 14.68-1 fuel ratio at PT this richness carries over to your WOT fueling as well making it lazy andnot at full power

I have good clearance on the passenger side. I would say I have at least an inch from the A/C lines. I have an appointment to get the tune done next week. Just need to get the new header delivered and installed.

I installed the headers for the A&A kit that will try and order next year.
