Default Tire pressure guages

Is there a real accurate tire guage out there? I have a digital, and a couple of dial types but there's a difference of 3 psi between them.I wonder what they use in NASCAR where they talk about .5 psi changes in pressure? Thanks.

I would trust the digital gauge over the analog. Most digital gauges come with an acceptable error of +/- .5 or 1 psi. Sometimes it is a percentage of psi. I wouldn't worry about being 1 pound lower or higher than your target psi. Any more than that and I adjust mine.

You can spend anywhere from $3 to $300+ on tire pressure guages. I've come to the conclusion that the cheapie digital and other "consumer" gauges are pretty much worth every penny you pay for them (ie, not much).

I have a moderately priced dial gauge (under $75) that I've had for many years. I'm no longer certain of its calibration, but it consistently reveals my 'vettes TPM system as different a couple of PSI across wheels and not extremely consistent at different temperatures and altitudes.

I'm thinking of buying a new gauge, it's been a good investment over the years for me.

This site has more gauges than I've seen anywhere else, including a selection of liquid filled dial gauges and a number of top of the line professional gauges.

Moroso makes a line of quality tire gauges.

On car with $1200 a set tires, it doesn't seem completely out of line to spend $50 or maybe even $100 on a good gauge.

A racing crew would be looking for repeatability on the track, so they'd pay for a gauge that reliably produced consistent readings.

Tried the link......didn't work. I just use a $4.00 Monkey tire gauge and its pretty much inline with the tire monitoring system on the car, give or take a pound or two. Of course it goes up when the tires are warm.
