I'm not a mechanic and the extent of my experience is changing the oil and air filter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
i have rebuilt the alternator myself its a very special alternator 3 pins (do not go get one from the auto parts store) ,,,
new battery charged first and cleaned all the ground points as recommended on the forum as well as the negative battery cable terminal at the frame...
these cars use the starter terminal as a junction point for the positive terminal to connect the alternator and the battery together at the bolt (yes) to save wire its not directly tied from the alternator to the battery,,,,, the battery cable goes down to the starter connection big stud where it joins up with the alternator cable. if that gets upset . loose ,,, or something catches it on the road and starts the nut on the starter loosening it can raise the rsistance of the connection ever so slightly make some intermittent connections and put noise on the CAN BUSS where guess waht computer listens ? the one that controls the active hadling and throttle control (fly by wire).... also can give a charge fault....
im going inder there tonite to investigate but thats my bet,,,, i see people on here saying they check that connection and never come back to say it fixed the issue ...
and i have checed every othe connection and control module ,,, my diag tool is pointing to the can bus as a generic fault so ,,, im headed thereto the battery connection at the starter to clean and tighten stuff up....
wish me luck
