C5 diff/tranny fluid changes - When - Time or Distance?
In my case, I have a 2002 C5 coupe, with 3.90s in the rear end. The tranny was built by forum sponsor, RPM Transmissions. Both are supported by cooling systems. Since last fluid change in spring 2017 (Royal Purple products), I have put three track days (all in 2017) and 10K total miles on the car. For the last 24 months, I have not run any HPDE/track days and have driven it only 4K of the 10K total, mostly in sub-highway driving. That limited operational trend looks to unfortunately continue for the foreseeable future.
Past professional advice was to change the driveline fluids (if not tracking it) every 2 years or 24K miles (whichever came first). I'm at or just beyond that time recommendation. However, it may be another handful of years before I reach the distance number.
So, whattayathink? Should I be focused on the time the fluids have been subject to use or shoot for the distance?
Thanks in advance!
