That's right, what he said. I did this exact mod and it was a great improvement over the base setup. Better on the curves and good ride. Some add shocks like Bilstein sports but they will add a little harshness to the ride. (IMHO) :chevy
I have a '99 coupe with the base suspension, and just switched to Hotchkiss bars and Z06 end links. I also had it lowered ( without cutting the bushings ) about 7/8" both front and rear. The results are better than I expected; almost totally flat cornering, slightly quicker responding, more " hunkered down " look. I was surprised that the ride was still very compliant, with hardly any increase of harsness -- and no bottoming. Once I add a set of Bilsteins and Z06 wheels and tires it should be perfect!
I would recommend a very stiff set of bars -- at least Z06 bars or stiffer. If you look you can find deals. I bought mine used off the Forum. :D
I just installed the aluminum end links on the base sway bars. It was a big improvement and did not effect the ride at all. Very little body roll with just the end links.
