Default Header Heat Wrap

There is not a lot to insulate the floor and tunnel from exhaust system heat. My question is can the Catalytic converters be wrapped with Header wrap like DEI titanium wrap? Would this negatively effect the exhaust system?

I have no idea how it would work. I've put wrap no headers but never even heard of someone wrapping cats.

I have a set of interior/tunnel insulation that I never used when I had my C5, if you're interested.

I think the reason people wrap headers is to keep the exhaust temperature in there so that the O2 sensors work correctly. That's why I did it. With the placement of the cats on my car, I'm not even sure why he would want to wrap them because they're so far back they have little effect on the toll anyway. I would say that your engine and radiator are the major causes of heat problems at the tunnel.

I know LG discouraged coating the cats. I had my headers coated with Cerakote and have been happy thus far with the results.

I am not a fan of wrapping headers as any debris or moisture from the road can gets trapped in the wrap.

I ceramic coated my headers and the results were outstanding. There is a ceramic product that can be painted on the inside of the tunnel that helps reject heat. I would NOT wrap the CATs You can FAB up a better heat shield that keeps the heat from radiating upwards

There are also thicker tunnel plates that are ceramic coated. The thicker tunnel plate will also help with body stiffness.

I agree with Bill, coat the headers and add a tunnel plate. If you want more heat insulation I'd look into options of insulating the tunnel.
