I've owned my C5 Coupe for 3 years with no challenges until recently. Turned 100,000 while participating in National Corvette Caravan in August. While in Bowling Green, came out to parking lot and got this error code on start up. Car starts but shuts off at 2 mph. Had it towed to dealer. They couldn't duplicate the problem and I drove back to Museum. Drove to dinner that night, came out after dinner and I'm stuck again . Had it towed a second time to dealer. Again, could see history of error codes, but couldn't duplicate. I got on the road and drove back to FL, never turning engine off. Have driven twice since returning with no issues. Now, I'm getting this error code again and been stuck in the garage for last 2 weeks. Dealer was able to determine that the original recall and a subsequent update had both been done. Is anybody familiar with this problem and can offer advice?
Many posts and threads on this problem here on the forum, verify you have a good battery with 12.5volts, you might want to change the column lock relay. Most forum members will advise you to install a LMC5 and do the brown wire modification, which most of the time will take care of the service column lock problem you are experiencing.
Thousands of posts about column lock. If you have a column lock problem, the last place to take your car is a dealer. My brother took his C5 to a dealer for a column lock issue and they threw up their hands and said they would try replacing some parts for $1200. He called me and I said to quickly get out of the dealership and order a LMC5. He did that and all is good now.

Installed one last week. Fixed my ride right up. Second worst part was waiting for the kit in the mail. First worst was trying to de-pin factory connectors -- got one wire de-pinned/re-pinned, gave up on the other two and cut and soldered instead.

The problem is the little allen wrench they give you. You are basically inserting a round pin into a square terminal release hole. I already had the correct square terminal pin tool in my toolbox, so after a few min fighting the terminals I gave up, grabbed the right tool amd the rest of the install went quick.
FIRST,, MAKE SURE that you have a 100% good battery. Take it out, charge it and then have it tested at the auto parts store. If it isn't 100%, replace it with the proper battery with at least 120 ma/hour RESERVE CAPACITY. You may have to replace the battery with a group 78 battery to get the proper reserve capacity battery.
Once you have the battery sorted out, check to see if you have the OEM GM Column Lock harness installed between the cars column lock harness connector and the column lock motor/lock assembly. Its a small four pin connector.
If you do, REMOVE IT! Its a piece of crap and is a common point of failure. Reconnect the column lock harness to the column lock motor assy pig tale harness.
