Driving down the road and looked down at the water temp gauge and noticed the oil pressure gauge is Maxed out !! I immediately slowed down and went to the DIC to double check the pressure. It was telling me 130psi !!! I've spun bearings in previous vehicles and it makes a hellava lot of noise and the engine normally seizes. I'm out in the middle of the desert 40 miles to the closest town, so I continued to drive it.
Does anyone have any ideas ? Sender failure ? Shorted wire to sender ? Surely, if the oil pressure was that high, the filter would have hand grenatted.
Yes, its your oil pressure sensor at the back of the block under the cowel. Happens to everyone at some time or other. Anyone who has a car where it has never been changed, should save yourself a headache and do it ahead of time. Cheap and easy to do.
