Default Reverse Lockout Solenoid Part #

I have a 1999 Corvette with the 6 speed manual transmission. The reverse lockout works only intermittently, even at highway speeds. It makes the 6th to 5th shift interesting. I've been getting around it by just going 6th to 4th.

Is this the correct part number for a 1999 6 speed?

ACDelco 19178634

TIA.

That P/N comes up as just the solenoid. When I replaced mine I used this one, AC Delco 19180052 which is the part number for the whole assembly. It has the mechanical part of the lockout and the solenoid, not just the solenoid. Not to spend your money but I would just replace the whole assembly. About $80 on Amazon for the whole assembly vs $60 for just the solenoid.

Were you still able to replace it without removing or dropping the transmission?

I replaced mine about a year ago and did not have to drop the transmission, have to use the right length socket, might get a few scratches its tight, have to snake your arm up on the passenger side of the trans. My only opp's was not ensuring that the plunger was all the way in, which I did by turning the key to the on position and pushing the plunger in.

You can take a look at pictures of the solenoid as installed on the transmission and figure out a marker on the side of the transmission that is just below it. Once you have it's position located it is a relatively easy removal and install. It's a little bit of a blind install because you can't actually see where it goes in. I jacked my car up as high as my Jack would go and I used jack stands on the lifting pucks for extra safety. I was able to get to it with a short extension and deep socket. I reached around the transmission and removed it once I figured out where it was at. I think I just left the shifter in neutral when I removed mine.
